Cameroon uses an age-based penalty duty system: the import duty rises the older the vehicle is. Used cars up to 10 years old can generally be imported, but an older car means a noticeably higher duty bill at clearance through the port of Douala.
Because of this structure, the smartest buying strategy is to target recent, low-mileage models — the younger the car, the lower the effective landed cost. This is one of the main reasons buyers in Cameroon prefer near-new Chinese SUVs and sedans rather than old stock.
We calculate an FOB price for every order and can add a CIF estimate including freight and an approximate duty range for Douala. See our Cameroon used car import guide for the full breakdown, or request a quote with your target model.
